I was born in China. My father is an architect, General Colonel in the Army and my mother is a staff in hospital. As I grew up in this family, my parents have paid great attention to my education.
At the age of eighteen, I graduated from Suzhou Senior High School in 1982, and participated in the Annual National Entrance Examination for Universities. Fortunately, I was admitted to the Department of Computer Science, Wuhan University of Technology and obtained my B.S. degree in Computer Science in 1986. Where I worked very hard and ranked top of my class of some 100 students.
After graduation, I came to Beijing and worked in the China Communication Information Center(CCIC), which is in charge of the management system of the China Ministry of Communications, and some of the major communication & transport companies. In CICC, I acted as a programmer and was promoted to the MIS system analyst and designer soon. I got a lot of practice in the area of commercial MIS implementation, programming with FoxBase, Q-Basic and Oracle database language in PC DOS and MVS environmental platform, and I have also studied my master course in Computer Engineering from January 1988 to August1988 at Beijing Institute of Technology before I went to Japan for my working.
In 1990, I was selected to go to Fujitsu, Inc in Japan for about three years working in MIS design. In fact, I was the only one in Ministry of Communications that entitled for such opportunity. During the years as Fujitsu, I learned more advanced technology in MIS design and implementation on FACOM K-670 computer environment and using COBOL, JCL, and C to develop MIS for Fujitsu products user in Japan. Before I came to United States in 1995, I worked in Fujitsu Office in Beijing, still concentrated on the support and design of MIS application Client/Service with FACOM DS/90(WS) for Fujitsu user.
Why came to U.S.A?
During my years as computer management programmer analysist and developer designer, I have got some practice in this field, and it comes to me that the computer science has brought a revolutionary change in the concepts and ways of business administration. However, for greater success in my chosen field, I feel that my knowledge in computer science is still limited. I firmly believe that, by pursuing graduate study on Computer Science at your esteemed college, I can effectively prepare myself for future career.
